As a COURTSPORTS™ Dealer you will have the ability to sell new court floor installations and service existing courts and hardwood surfaces in school districts, colleges, fitness facilities, recreation centers, professional arenas. Additionally you have the opportunity to service consumers who may want a court in their homes.
The sales potential is endless as a COURTSPORTS™ Dealer because every school, college, and most fitness facilities have existing hardwood court flooring that requires annual servicing and maintenance. The annual recoating and refinishing is the “bread and butter” of this business opportunity.
Hardwood court flooring is the industry’s most common surface to play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, and squash. It’s used for group exercise studios, dance floors, stages, and often used in commercial buildings. Hardwood court flooring can be easily maintained, cleaned, and restored to look brand new again. COURTSPORTS™ training experts will also travel to your first project to help guide you. If more training is needed it will be tailored to meet your individual needs. If you are not successful, COURTSPORTS™ is not successful.

THE FIRST STEPS TO STARTING YOUR BUSINESS
There are certain steps you must take before launching your business. You will need to decide what type of business entity structure suits you best – corporation, LLC, or sole proprietorship. Each state is different so it’s important to research the requirements for business licenses, insurance, and workers compensation (if you have employees). Some states require you to also obtain a contractor license. This will all need to be setup before your operation begins.
While you’re getting your business set up you can begin training. Training will take 1-2 to weeks to complete. It requires you to complete 10 sessions (3-4 hours each) in the classroom and “hands-on” on an actual gym floor. You’ll learn everything from installing new maple sports flooring systems to painting game lines and logos. We will even teach you how to create an effective marketing campaign to launch your new business. After you’ve completed the 10 sessions you’ll be way ahead of your competition. But that’s not all – you will have direct lines of communication and support from our staff as needed. If you feel you need additional training and assistance we’ll implement additional training and support to meet your needs.

What if I am not creative and need help with marketing literature? COURTSPORTS™ has full color brochures and print material you can purchase at any time. You can use this marketing literature to promote your business. You simply add your contact information.
How much does it cost to become a new dealer? As with any new business it will require a lot of research and paperwork to get started. You will need to get setup as a corporation, LLC, or sole proprietorship. You will need to get insurance and workers compensation insurance if you decide to have employees. Some states even require you to have a contractor’s license. And you will need a computer, phone line, and internet connection. This business can be run from your home so there is no need to rent office space. Dealers are not required to stock any inventory so your garage is suitable to store the required equipment. As your business grows you may want to rent a storage unit or small warehouse. Your startup costs will vary depending on what you already own, or tools you may already have. If you already have an SUV or truck that will be suitable to tow a trailer.

Do I need to purchase any inventory? COURTSPORTS™ does not require dealers to purchase any inventory to begin. Inventory is only purchased upon a purchase order or signed contract from a customer. We only want you to purchase the materials needed for each project. If you have materials left over they can be used on your next project.
Do I need to have construction experience? No experience is necessary to become an authorized dealer. However any experience you may have definitely aids to expedite the training. This is a very unique business and we do not expect you to have any experience.
Do I need to hire employees? If you desire to increase your profitability you need to get out and work on each project yourself. The annual recoating can be completed by a sole operator. But the sanding and refinishing will require at minimum one helper. A new installation typically requires a three man crew at minimum. It depends on how large of a business you want to operate. If you want to stay small it can be done with one employee. But if you want to complete hundreds of gym flooring projects each year you will need to hire additional employees.
What kind of profit can be estimated? It’s very difficult to estimate the profits in this business. It depends on many variables including your motivation, goals, and location. It is certainly going to take time and determination to be successful. Most often it takes a minimum of 3-6 months to get setup, fully trained, and have a marketing campaign in full effect. It’s more about the long term success, than “get rich quick.” We train you how to get new customers, but more importantly how to keep them coming back each year for your services.
Will I be the only dealer in my area? Yes you will be the only dealer in your area. Our goal is to place one dealer in an area that covers a population of 5 million people or more. For example a dealer in Montana may have to travel into other states to fill that quota. It is not good business for COURTSPORTS™ to saturate any given market area.
